More about the guest singer:

Yalonda JD Green, PhD is a vocalist, poet, improviser, and all-around creative jane from Detroit. As children's librarian, she combines herselves as performer, educator, and literacy hypewoman at the Louisville Free Public Library’s South Central Regional Library.

A woman of many names, after library hours, you can find JD singing afrobeat with The Afrophysicists, rocking with Steely Danish, or serving up her own bewitching blend of jazz, soul, and powerful vocal improvisation at shows, live jams, and workshops around the region. In her workshops, storytimes, and performances, Dr. Yalonda always urges folks to sing along. When we embrace our own voices and raise them in collective song and story, we have the power to sing ourselves —and one another—free and whole.

Dr. Yalonda JD Green lives, works, and jams in Louisville, KY. Learn more here.
